I have a new set of 170 students for this quarter. We begin art class by learning the basics. We can draw anything if we can break it down into shapes, lines and the alphabet. Here are examples of my students doing just that with step by step animal drawings. I teach 5th and 6th graders.
My students are using their chrome books, a stylus on the touch pad and the online program https://sketch.io/sketchpad/ to create their digital artwork. This assignment called for them to insert an animal image and fill it with patterns. The completed the project by creating an environment for the animal using patterns as well. I am introducing my students to digital art. We are using a program called Sketchpad io. It is a great program to use with Chromebase devices. I also introduced them to the stylus for drawing. They are able to draw on the touch pad while hold their finger down on the touch pad and drawing with the other hand. Some students have a touchscreen and are able to use the stylus there as well. These designs are called Radial Symmetry or Mandalas.
We are back to "in person" school. I am teaching one virtual class along with 5 in person classes. It is a great deal of work but we will make it happen. Here are some examples of my students work. We were studying Balance/Unity in work. They had to use the tools they had which were sketchbook, pencil, sharpie and crayons/color pencils. They did a great job.
