Introduction to Art - 5th Grade

We start the semester with an introduction to art proving to each student that they can create art by using lines, shapes and the alphabet. The 5th grade intro to art is to follow with the teacher a step x step drawing of Piggy Pig. After the student draws the pig, they must create the environment the pig lives in. They proceed by tracing all the pencil with sharpie, erasing the pencil and finally adding color to the project. Print Piggy Pig

Pop Art uses images and icons that are popular in our modern world. This can include famous celebrities like movie stars and rock stars, commercial items like soup cans and soft drinks, comic books, and any other items that are popular in the commercial world.  Artist use a number of ways  to create pop art. Some ways may be repeating the item over and over again, changing the color or texture of the item, and putting different items together to make a picture.
