Weeya Calif, previously Smith, has a BA in Art Education with a Masters in Technology Integration. Annually she presents to Elementary, Middle and High Schools in the Wisconsin area about Southeast Woodland People. She attends Living History Events and Rendezvous representing Southeast Woodland People as a storyteller and presenter in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, & Indiana. Weeya is a Lifetime certified Art teacher K - 12 in Wisconsin and a Lifetime Certified Art teacher in Louisiana.
Weeya is a tribal citizen of The Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama, an official state recognized tribe. Weeya is the webmaster, social media specialist & tech administrator for the tribe. The tribe is recognized through the Alabama State Legislatures, the Alabama Indian Affairs Commission and the Federal Government Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990. Being a tribal citizen of an official state recognized tribe guarantees all her artwork is Native American made. She is also a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association in good standing and has the backing of the Alabama Indian Affairs Commission.
